How the Model Works

  • Each day you add new listings and sell 1 card for every so many live listings. That number is your sell-through: 300 listings per sale a day is a 10% monthly sell-through rate.
  • List faster than you sell and your live listings grow, so your daily sales grow with them, until you sell as many cards a day as you add and your listings level off. Add 75 new listings a day at 10% a month and that happens at about 22,500 listings, close to two years in.
  • Pace and sell-through matter most. Double the cards you add a day and the plateau doubles. Take your sell-through from 10% to 20% a month and you sell the same 75 a day from half the listings, in half the time. Change one number at a time and watch the plateau and the monthly profit move.
  • Not every card you scan is a new listing. A copy of a card you already have up only adds to that listing's count, so set the share that are new.
  • Income is what buyers pay, shipping included. Costs are what the cards cost you, your shipping and the marketplace's fees at the standard rate for your country, plus the eBay Store and insertion fees when eBay is the main marketplace. Sales tax is left out; the eBay Fee Calculator shows a single sale with tax.
  • On eBay, your Store level counts. It sets the card fee, and its free listings come off the listings eBay charges for each month: every new listing, plus every live listing when it renews. If the profit line bends down while your sales keep climbing, you have outgrown your Store's free listings, and the table names the month and the level that would keep more. On eBay UK, where free listings are scarcest, it also shows what variation listings would save.
  • A second marketplace adds extra sales of the same stock as a share of the main one, growing each month by the amount you set.

Using Variation Listings to Lower Listing Count

A variation listing holds up to 250 different cards and counts as one listing against your free listings and insertion fees. That goes for every renewal too, so 100 commons from one set cost you one listing a month instead of 100.

PowerList TCG builds them for you, split by game, set, rarity, finish and condition, so a buyer picks the exact card they want from one page. Most sets have fewer than 250 cards, so plan on about 100 cards a listing. Move your low-dollar singles into variation listings and a smaller Store can carry the same cards, or the same Store can carry far more of them. Tick Model as Variation Listings above to see it in your prediction.

One thing does not shrink: eBay's monthly selling limits on your account count every card inside a variation listing, not the listing. A listing with 100 cards uses 100 of those, so check your limits on eBay before you move a large inventory over.

eBay Store Subscriptions and Free Listings

Every card you list on eBay uses one of your free listings for the month, and so does every Good 'Til Cancelled listing each time it renews. Past them, each listing pays an insertion fee, so the right Store level comes down to how many cards you keep live. This is what each level costs and includes on each eBay site, from eBay's own fee pages (October 2026).

The card category bonus is extra free fixed price listings in eBay's select categories, which include Collectible Card Games, Sports Trading Cards and Collectibles, so a card seller gets both counts. The card fee is charged on the whole sale with shipping and sales tax, plus the per-order fee ($0.40 on orders over $10). A Top Rated Plus listing takes 10% off the percentage.

Sell-Through Rate: Common Questions

How the model counts and how to read what it tells you.

What is a sell-through rate on eBay?

The share of your listings that sell in a set time. This calculator uses 30 days: cards sold in a month divided by the listings you had live on average. 10% a month is the same as 1 sale a day for every 300 listings, which is how the model counts it.

How do I work out my own sell-through rate?

Count the cards you sold in the last 30 days and divide by the number of listings you have live. 150 sold against 1,500 listings is 10% a month. Inside PowerList TCG, Analytics fills this in from your own eBay sales.

Why do my listings level off?

Every day you add new listings and sell a share of what is live. The more you have live, the more sell each day, until sales catch up with what you add. That is the Listing Plateau: new listings a day times listings per sale. You reach about 90% of it in roughly 2.3 times that many days, so a faster sell-through gets you there sooner.

How do I sell more without listing faster?

Raise the sell-through or the price. Sell-Through Improvement a Month models getting better at it month by month, and Blend With models a second marketplace taking extra sales of the same stock.

Does it work for Shopify, WooCommerce and Square?

Yes. Pick the main marketplace and, if you like, a second one to blend. Fees use the standard rates for the country you pick, and the eBay sites use eBay's fees for trading cards.

How accurate is it?

It is a model, not a promise. It assumes your sell-through, price and order size hold steady unless you tell it otherwise. Use it to compare plans, like listing 100 cards a day against 200, rather than to predict a month to the dollar.

How is this different from the Sales Prediction Model in PowerList TCG?

It is the same model. Inside PowerList TCG it starts from your own sell-through, average price, cards per order and live listings, and you can save predictions to open later.
